Encore: day Four of 40 days of Lent
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is one of the most profound and transformational experiences the Body of Christ can experience. It a moment in time when the worship and prayers of believers comes together to touch the heart of the father.
With purpose and intention, we come together to honor God and lift up the name of the Lord together. One of the first recording corporate experiences in the bible of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Here we see the evidence of the effects of this outpouring on those present. We see the tongues of cloven fire and the witness of understanding where there was none before. Many were brought to Christ that day by the simple demonstration.
Not only did the multitude see and shift with the evidence of the Spirit, but the experience also transformed those who were in the room.
This is demonstration. God used this particular demonstration to expand the Body of Christ by three thousand souls (Acts 2:41). The scripture goes on to note that many signs and wonders were done by the Apostles.
Tonight’s word is Encore.
/ˈänˌkôr/ noun
a repeated or additional performance of an item at the end of a concert, as called for by an audience.
I believe this word tonight is a reminder of what we can be praying for over the 40 days of Lent. An outpouring of God’s Spirit; the evidence that God is real and still in the miracle-working business. Not simply for ourselves or our own affairs. But for the expansion of the Kingdom of Heaven through the power of Holy Spirit powered demonstration.
Romans 8:19 reads: For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. (KJV)
Another version reads: For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. (ESV)
The entire earth is waiting for the evidence of God’s children to be revealed. Let us pray that His will springs forth through an encore of his power being made manifest in and through our lives.
