Devotional 93: Graced For The Battle
All things are being made new. Day by day. Every step you make in faith is leading you into something new. This is why it is so difficult to trust God with the hard things. There is always going to be resistance to your next level. There is always going to be a mountain that stands before you. The reason for this it's simple. We live in a world that fights your faith every step of the way. This is why the scripture in 2nd Corinthians, Chapter 10 verses 3-6 state:
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
When the scripture says “every high thing”, it is referring to those mountains. Those issues that seem to pop up white when you think you finally have the hang of it. When you know that you're coming out. When you see the chaos dying down and the light at the end of the tunnel is shining brighter. The high thing will lift itself up. Sometimes through the ones that we love. Sometimes via unforeseen circumstances. But always at the brink of breakthrough. This is why we have this small thing called grace.
The apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12 that he asked three times to remove the thorn in his side. The response God gave Paul is the one He is giving us thousands of years later with His word:
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
His grace is sufficient for His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. He is still God within the things we can not control. When you are tired and looking at the mountains, remember that He is the God that speaks to mountains (Zephaniah 4:7 KJV) so we may continue to run the race with peace and longsuffering. Don't give up. Don't let go of His promises. God has given each of us the gift of grace.
You don't have to look for grace. Grace finds you. Right where you are and in the midst of your circumstances, God releases the grace you need to proceed and overtake every mountain. You can continue your journey. You can keep going. You have the grace to press and continue to work through your assignments. Day by day. From grace to grace. You are graced for the battle.
