Devotional 91: Let Go and Trust God
Knowing the right decisions to make can be overwhelming. Without seeing the big picture, it's difficult to know if you’re doing the right thing. The problem is that life rarely gives you time to think and when it does, the thinking can go far beyond just a few moments. The thinking can be the main thing you focus on vs the decision to be made. Your thinking turns into overthinking and the overthinking derails you from taking action.
At the root of the indecision and the overwhelm is fear. There is the fear of the unknown, the fear of failure, and the fear that maybe you're wrong about all of it. That lack of confidence shows up inside of all that you do. It causes you to worry and start to doubt yourself.
It’s time. Release the worry and know that it's okay to move forward. It's okay to let go. Take the next step. Then another. In all of your uncertainty, God is in complete control. He knows. You don't have to worry about what's next. God is with you step-by-step. Release the fear keeping you from making sound decisions.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
Release the thoughts of what others may think and simply trust the process. Yes, there may be some who do not agree when you begin to grow in confidence and walk in boldness. However, this is the path to beginning to trust God completely. This is the journey that you must grow into that you may increase your faith.
You can do it. You do have what it takes. Yes, you can trust yourself. The only thing stopping you is the fear of letting go and things not going the way you expect. This is what keeps you worried about the future versus living in this moment. This moment, right here, is the only moment that you experience real time. It is in this moment that you can breathe, that you can praise God, and you can settle your heart and mind.
It’s in this moment, that the still small voice of the Lord whispers for you to trust him and be still. It confirms that you can put your faith in Him despite how you feel. Emotions are fleeting and subject to change. But the love of God is constant and real. After all is said and done, His love remains the same.
