Be Free
For thus saith the Lord God, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there, and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
(Isaiah 52:4, KJV)
You went there. You changed.
You began to adapt and forget your name.
Desperate to be a part of something big.
You forgot that you were always His.
You were always loved.
He was always there.
As things began to shift
and your heart began to drift.
As your dreams were put on a shelf.
God was there, ready, and willing to help.
As life got harder and
obligations began to mount.
God was there as you pursued
answers and ways to get out.
Always feeling one step behind
Wondering when God in His divine
power would give you a break.
God was there, waiting for you to
surrender for His name’s sake.
As you began to lose hope and find
comfort in what you could produce.
God was there waiting for you to
choose Him all along.
Unduly oppressed and
feeling cut off was never
the plan of the Lord when He paid
the cost for your life on the cross.
By the power of the blood
and to those who would believe,
God gave you the power in
His name to be free.
Livi Anderson, Be Free
The Lord our God paid for so much more than salvation on the cross. That one act of love by our savior granted you and me the ability to call on His name and be at peace in every situation we go through. Before this unparalleled demonstration of God’s love, God demonstrated His love for us by turning the tables in the most impossible situations. The difference between us now, and the Israelites being addressed by the Prophet Isaiah is the Blood that was shed on the cross giving us victory over principalities, dark forces, and generational curses.
It’s in this, that the enemy you’re facing right now has already been defeated. Poverty, insecurity, doubt, fear, anxiety, worry, homelessness, and so many spiritual strongholds are already broken. The oppressive limitations of society and the complex man-made conditions that may be standing between you and your purpose are broken.
Once my children and I left the mission home, I knew that there was something more in store for me. Upon receiving knowledge that I would no longer be permitted to remain in the program, I wrote a two-page piece in the Orlando Examiner that gave a detailed account of the mission home and how it differed from a basic shelter. The piece was written out of a grateful heart for all the mission home had done for my family. It was written in two days on the shelter’s computers under a self-imposed deadline. I submitted the piece in November 2012 with no idea how this small act would change the trajectory of my life.
The mission home’s administration received a notification whenever anything featuring their name hit the internet. At first, they thought I was an undercover journalist who infiltrated their facility and reported my findings. When I informed my caseworker that I had written the piece, she immediately read it and sent it to the administration. It was at this point that I began to understand that God had blessed me to write. I was selected to complete a media interview sharing my experience in the mission home, and I distinctly remember one of the staff members telling me that the piece I had written was better than most of what he read in the news.
It was a wake-up call. I began to write more despite the treacherous road that lay ahead for my family. What would happen next would test my resolve to write for a living and stretch my faith to believe that God was building something amazing in and through me.
My mind had to change about myself. My knowledge of the history of poverty and lack in my family was expanded to understand the fact that my parents were homeless and that what I was enduring was more than an unfortunate event. It was a generational curse, a stronghold that my mother, my father, and others in my family had endured and did not defeat. The survival instincts that I had become so used to were a part of my bloodline and I had no idea until I had to walk through it myself.
Queen, whatever you have endured thus far may have roots that you don’t fully understand, yet. The inhabitants of Jerusalem were “oppressed without cause” by the Assyrians and they were taken captive for nothing. When God declares that they will be redeemed without money, He is demonstrating His power to restore us without money. This is the grace of God that goes beyond the power of money and subjugates it to the power of His grace and mercy in our lives.
Not having enough money is the principal reason that many have remained trapped in unacceptable circumstances. The moment you accept unacceptable circumstances as the inhabitants of Jerusalem did in Isaiah 52, you inadvertently concede defeat to a defeated foe.
God has overcome the enemy and every instance of lack that is present in your situation. Know that you have options and that there is always another way. The faith that you have in God will make you whole. Whether the issue is lack of money, lack of confidence, or even lack of emotional support; God has overcome these obstacles and so many more. The only thing missing is your faith, desire to move forward, and the will to follow it into freedom.
Gratefulness Defeats The Plans of The Enemy.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
(Romans 8:28, KJV)
How can you express gratitude in your current circumstances?
